Amazon is expanding its smart home products today. The company has announced that it is buying the Eero router company for an undisclosed amount. The merger will see Eero continue to manage its brand independently and expand globally.
Amazon states that the company's acquisition of Eero will help its customers "better connect" smart home devices. Eero is one of the leading companies of mesh routers, paving the way for a lot of other similar products, even from big companies like Google and Netgear. The company's WiFi systems help users to get a fast and reliable Wi-Fi connection in all parts of their home with the WiFi mesh system, essentially functioning as a blanket.
"We are incredibly impressed by the eero team and the speed with which they invented a WiFi solution that makes the connected devices work," said Dave Limp, SVP of Amazon Devices and Services. "We have a shared vision that smart home experience can be even simpler and we are committed to continuing to innovate on behalf of customers."
The acquisition of Eero by Amazon will make the company even stronger in the world of smart home. It not only produces Echo and Alexa products, but now also has WiFi systems that are the backbone of smart homes. Amazon also owns companies like Ring, so it's trying to reach almost every part of your home. And as frightening as it may be, Amazon has effortlessly executed its range of smart homes, and there is no doubt that it will continue to dominate the smart home market by moving forward.
