Arlo’s latest video doorbell drops the cable

Arlo has announced a new wireless video doorbell that works with rechargeable batteries, which should make setup much easier for most people. The Arlo Essential wireless video doorbell is available for pre-order now for $ 199.99 and Arlo says it should begin shipping “during the holiday season.”

Aside from its new rechargeable battery, the new doorbell has very similar specs to last year’s Arlo Video Doorbell. You still have a camera with a 180-degree field of view and a 1: 1 aspect ratio, it still supports HDR and night vision, and it still comes with support for video calls, two-way audio conversations, and the ability to send pre-recorded messages. You also have the option to wire up the new battery-powered doorbell and charge it continuously, if you don̵

Three months of Arlo Smart are included in the price of the doorbell. The subscription service gives you 30 days of sequential cloud recordings, plus intelligent object detection that allows the doorbell to automatically detect people, vehicles, animals and packages and send alerts about them to your phone. After the free time expires, pricing starts at $ 2.99 per month for continuous access to the service.

Battery powered video doorbells are available from other manufacturers such as Ring and August. But if you’ve already invested in Arlo’s smart security camera ecosystem and have an Arlo Smart subscription for multiple cameras, its new video doorbell should be a perfect addition.
