Arsenal: 3 things we learned from Anfield

Liverpool Player Ratings – Arsenal: This was a true defense versus attack story as the Gunners sat down and Liverpool’s offensive stars had plenty of ball.

Alexandre Lacazette’s opening saw Liverpool behind for a short time, but quick goals from Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson kept them ahead and Diogo Jota scored a decisive goal in the 3-1 win.

Here is a look at the ratings of Liverpool – Arsenal players, as we give players a rating out of 10.

Liverpool player ratings

Alisson: 7 – He made a good save to deny Lacazette in the second half and had little else to do. Occasionally a little shaky kicks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 8 ̵

1; Superb cross for Mane in the early phase and with a ferocious shot deflected over the crossbar.

Joe Gomez: 6 – There wasn’t much to do but there were some gaps between him and Van Dijk in the second half.

Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Shot well saved by Leno and nice customer, as always, in everything.

Andrew Robertson: 8 – A threat on the left that gave Bellerin a torrid moment.

Fabinho: 7 – He sat down and absorbed the game in midfield, and won the ball over and over.

Georginio Wijnaldum: 6 – Solid, stable and reliable. Have you ever had a bad game !?

Naby Keita: 6 – He failed to make his forward runs from midfield. Quite neat.

Mohamed Salah: 7 – Nice run and shot to set the first goal and bullied Tierney. Greedy in the second half and took a chance from Jota.

Roberto Firmino: 7 – Good movement and Luiz and Holding busy to allow Mane and Salah to cut inside.

Sadio Mane: 8 – He could have been sent off immediately for an elbow on Tierney and hit a straight shot at Leno. He took his goal well. A constant threat.

James Milner (80 ‘for Keita): 6 – Help Liverpool see the game by clogging up the midfield.
Diogo Jota (80 ′ in attack for Mane): 7 – A goal at the debut of PL for Liverpool and made some good runs, a cross and two more shots were both out of goal. Very lively in his debut at Anfield.
Takumi Minamino (90 ‘on Firmino): N / A

Arsenal player ratings

Bernd Leno: 6 – A decent break from Mane but his distribution was sloppy.

Rob Holding: 6 – He’s fine in defense but he never seems so comfortable in possession of the ball.

David Luiz: 6 – Sloppy on the ball at times and struggled to cope with the pressure of Liverpool. Hanging there.

Kieran Tierney: 5 – Hit on Liverpool’s first goal but caught Mane’s elbow early on. I didn’t get much help.

Hector Bellerin: 5 – Caught snoozing on both Liverpool first halves. He didn’t add anything from an offensive perspective.

Mohamed Elneny: 6 – He worked hard, as always, and tried to put together some steps.

Granit Xhaka: 5 – Overtaking in midfield and inability to catch the ball. Subbed off.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: 5 – He should have done better to control a ball over the top and stuck back.

Willian: 4 – Off to allow Robertson to finish for Liverpool’s second place. Offered little in attack.

Alexandre Lacazette: 6 – He scored his goal because he was in the right place at the right time. He worked hard but missed a big chance for a second.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 5 – Little involved and when he was there he was unable to run for Liverpool or provide quality.

Dani Ceballos (60 ‘in attack for Granit Xhaka): 6 – He made the difference when he got possession of the ball.
Nicolas Pepe (68 ‘for Willian): 5 – Little involved.
Eddie Nketiah (74 ′ for Lacazette): N / A
