Arsenal vs Fulham score: Premier League kicks off with dream start for Gunners as Willian, Aubameyang shine

Arsenal opened the Premier League season with a convincing 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday as new signings stole the show. Both Willian and Gabriel glowed inside an empty Craven Cottage as the hosts did little to defend themselves and little to threaten. Willian made two assists and was involved in all three goals, while Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabriel Magalhaes all scored.

Scott Parker’s side benched forward Aleksandar Mitrovic before he entered the game in the 63rd minute, and the attack gave Arsenal next to nothing to worry about for most of the 90 minutes.

Here are three highlights of the match:

Willian was the best player on the field

Signing him on a free transfer from Chelsea seems like a brilliant move through a match. The Brazilian international was involved on all three goals and probably should have scored a couple. But his first shot on goal was saved, leading to Lacazette̵

7;s opener, and then hit the left post with a free kick.

His team’s second goal came on a nice corner cross that found Gabriel’s head perfectly in the box.

Finally, this cross-field pass from Aubameyang led to the final goal that he knocked out in the 57th minute:

Obviously it’s a great achievement, but Willian is on stage for seeing him go into space and playing him perfectly.

Whenever he has the ball, he is a threat. He proved it at Arsenal on the first day.

Gabriel starts badly, but ends well on his debut

The former Lille defender took a moment to settle in and nearly made a costly early mistake by letting Bernd Leno go when he shouldn’t have, but other than that, he was brilliant. He kept his forwards ahead of him, timed his tackles well and played the ball forward with precision.

His goal was the icing on the cake and his performance will give Arsenal fans hope that their defensive woes may soon be over.

Where do the Cottagers go from here?

Not a great start, but no one expected Fulham – who played in the league last season – to score a point from Arsenal anyway. You can’t really judge this team without Mitrovic at the start, but it looks like Fulham might need to make a move or two to ramp up the attack, especially creativity. They showed very little despite having the possession to do so.

After 90 minutes, Fulham have as many yellow cards (two) as shots on goal.

It’s early, but a slow start can be a killing blow.

Fulham 0, Arsenal 3 (FINAL)

⚽ Arsenal: Alexandre Lacazette (8 ‘)
⚽ Arsenal: Gabriel Magalhães (49 ‘)
⚽ Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (57 ‘)
