Chinese Virologist: The Chinese government has “intentionally” released COVID-19

The Chinese government intentionally produced and released the COVID-19 virus that led to mass closures and deaths around the world, a leading virologist and whistleblower Tucker Carlson told Fox News on Tuesday.

Carlson specifically asked Dr. Li-Meng Yan if she believed the Chinese Communist Party had released the virus “on purpose”. “Yes, sure, it’s intentional,” he replied to “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Yan said further evidence would be released, but pointed to her high-ranking position in a World Health Organization reference laboratory as reason to trust her allegation.

“I work[ed] in the WHO reference laboratory, the world̵

7;s first coronavirus laboratory, at the University of Hong Kong. And the fact is, I’ve been going into such investigations in secret since the beginning of this epidemic. I had my intelligence because I also involve my network of units in China [in] the hospital … I also work with the upper crown[virus] virologist in the world, “he said.

“So along with my experience, I can tell you, this is created in the laboratory … and besides, it is spread around the world to do such damage.”

Fox News previously reported on Yan when it denounced China’s alleged attempts to suppress information about its handling of the virus. With an extensive network of contacts in Chinese medical facilities, Yan attempted to gather more information about the virus while China prevented foreign experts from conducting research in the country.

His revelations have fueled ongoing complaints that the Chinese government has failed to inform the world in advance of the virus threat. Specifically, he believes the Chinese government has ignored research that could have saved lives. The State Department did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

In response, his former employer, the University of Hong Kong, criticized his account. A press release noted “that the content of the above report is not in accord with the key facts as we understand them.”

“Specifically, Dr. Yan has never conducted any research on human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus a [the University of Hong Kong] during the months of December 2019 and January 2020, his central statement of that interview “.

Yan fled China and currently fears retaliation. She claims she was one of the first scientists in the world to study the virus.
