Cross said doctors diagnosed him with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological disorder in which the immune system attacks nerves, which they believed was caused by his Covid-19.

“It was the worst 10 days of my life,” said Cross. “And I couldn’t walk, I could barely move. And so it was definitely the darkest time for me, you know? It was really a cure-all, and difficult.”

Cross said he continues to struggle to recover and said both his speech and memory have been affected and that he has gone from having to use a wheelchair to now walking with a cane.
