College football scores, NCAA top 25, week 2: Texas Ehlinger, Oklahoma Rattler dominant in wins

The Big 12 started the day with a terrible performance as Iowa State and Kansas State lost at home to Sun Belt foes. But the league’s powers brought a lot of strength into the day, as Oklahoma and Texas both hit easy wins. The Sooners jumped 31-0 in the first quarter over the state of Missouri and slipped to a 48-0 win, while Texas scored on their first offensive play en route to a 59-3 win over UTEP.

Both programs have league title and College Football Playoff aspirations behind quarterbacks who are expected to have great seasons, and both have delivered impressive opening performances. Spencer Rattler of Oklahoma completed 1

4 of 17 passes for 291 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions while playing only two quarters in his first start for the Sooners. Not to be outdone, Texas’ Sam Ehlinger shot for 429 yards and five touchdowns … in one half.

The two were among the best on the first Saturday of college football that saw the Power Five teams in action. The day included upheavals, exciting endings and many highlights. CBS Sports has it covered.
