Contact Tracing, the great hope of the West to suppress Covid-19, is in disarray



PARIS – When countries across the West pulled out of the blockade in the spring, governments trained legions of investigators to identify and isolate people potentially infected with the coronavirus. The goal was to prevent the pathogen from returning.

Four months later, systems for finding people who could transmit infections, known as contact tracing, are in disarray. Europe and the United States are experiencing tens of thousands of new infections every day.
