CHICAGO – Sunday's game was another example of why Detroit Red Wings are better off in the draft lottery.
Their exit at the United Center showed that they are short of talent and lack the firepower to overcome a bad start. Their 5-2 defeat against the Chicago Blackhawks disappointed even more because although losses have been accumulating since New Year's Eve, the Wings played well.
Then came Sunday. The Blackhawks dictated the game in the first period, scoring twice the rush.
"It is bad for us not to be ready from the beginning," said Christoffer Ehn. "It's really frustrating and disappointing that we gave the first period, really, we had a couple of games where we came out flying at the start but today it was not good enough and they were everywhere.
" E & # 39 It was a good sign that we were able to recover and how to be still in the game, but it is really disappointing that we lost. " Other: Dylan Larkin remains the brightest star of Detroit Red Wings in the dark season

The coach J eff Blashill described the beginning as brutal.
"Not good enough," said Blashill. "Halfway, we started playing with more jam and a lot more like we did for the last month.
" The beginning, for me, mentally we were not ready to go. we have in a very long, unforgivable time, not even close enough, we can not spot the 2-0 teams on the road. "
At the height of the success, ten years ago, The Wings could make it because they had the talent to score, twice in goal, with Ehn leading 2-1 and Gustav Nyquist coming back for 3-2, but less than a minute after Nyquist scored with 4:30 for playing in the regulation, Patrick Kane – the first absolute selector in 2007 – scored short-side on Jonathan Bernier The USNDT player Jack Hughes, the 2019 draft prize that plays right at the bottom of Plymouth, has drawn comparis ns to Kane to be a highly skilled and underdeveloped American avant-garde, losing benefits to Hughes' hunters, improving their odds in the draft lottery.
But one thing is losing while playing competitively, as the Wings have made since the beginning of the new year have been in great pa quick and physical rte, overcoming their opponents at the start of the games and gaining confidence, especially after a series of wins in three games at the beginning of the month. Sunday, their third consecutive defeat by that strip, was a flaw on that.
"I know for sure that we played good hockey for 20 games and with this we get a winning series of three games," Blashill said. "We had some good early times, which was something I had not seen for a while and it can not happen with our club."
