Ford Motor has cut over 5,000 jobs in Germany and an indefinite number of jobs in the UK, a company spokesman said after the company launched plans to redefine its European business 39; start of this year.
The objective is to significantly reduce structural costs, reduce bureaucracy, empower leaders and executives and eliminate work with lower added value, "a Ford spokesman said.

The company offered voluntary separation programs for employees in Germany and the UK, the spokeswoman said. The number of cuts in the UK has yet to be determined, he said.
