- Google may have accidentally revealed the launch date for the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G.
- The two phones may be available for pre-order in early October.
Google launched the much anticipated Pixel 4a a few days ago and also surprisingly confirmed that the more premium Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G would follow. It now appears that Google France may have accidentally revealed the launch date for the two new Pixels.
A 9to5Google reader from France recently discovered that Google’s official blog post for the Pixel 4a launch also mentioned the pre-order date for the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. The mention has since been removed, but a cached version of the post exists and the automatic translation of the excerpt reads as follows:
Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 will be available for pre-order from 8 October 2020.
Google usually opens pre-orders for its phones on the same day as they launch, so October 8 could be the day we see the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G go official. It also seems like the time is right as Google has already confirmed a fall launch for phones and has a tradition of unveiling flagship pixels in October.
Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G: specifications and prices
Google gave us a preview of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G (see image above) on the day of the Pixel 4a launch, so we have an idea of what the devices look like. We also know that the Pixel 4a 5G will cost $ 499 at launch, but there’s no word on the specifics of the phone yet.
We also don’t know much about the Google Pixel 5 right now, except for a handful of rumors.
The leaks suggest the Pixel 5 won’t bring a flagship Snapdragon processor this year. We also recently encountered some unconfirmed information that the phone will feature a 120Hz display. As for the price, a Google survey suggests the phone could start retailing for $ 699. If true, Google may have another great device on his hands in a sea full of $ 1,000 flagships.
