Senate Republicans have enough votes to confirm a replacement for late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg ahead of the November 3 election, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Lindsey Graham, R-S.C, told “Hannity” Monday.
“It’s pretty obvious that if they [Democrats] they want an outcome, they will destroy anyone’s life to keep the seats open, ”Graham told presenter Sean Hannity.
GRAHAM LAUNCHES RBG AS A ‘TRAILBLAZER’ WHICH SERVED WITH ‘HONOR AND DISTINCTION’
“They said they tried to destroy Brett Kavanaugh so they could take the place – they were stupid enough to say it,”
“We have the votes to confirm Judge Ginsburg’s replacement before the election. We will move forward in committee, we will report the nomination out of committee to the US Senate chamber so we can vote before the election. Now, this is the constitutional process.”
Protesters gathered outside Graham’s home in Washington D.C. Monday morning after he pledged to advance the Senate nomination process.
Critics of Graham underscored his statements after Senate Republicans refused to go ahead with Barack Obama’s appointment of Judge Merrick Garland in 2016. Recently, in October 2018, the South Carolina Republican said: ” If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump’s term and the primary process has begun, we will wait until the next election. “
GRAHAM SIDE WITH TRUMP ON SCOTUS VACANCY
“After Kavanaugh, everything changed with me,” Graham told Hannity Monday. “They won’t intimidate me, [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell, or anyone else. “
The chairman of the judicial committee added that Trump’s candidate, which is expected to be announced later this week, “will be supported by every Republican on the judiciary committee.
“We have the votes to confirm the judge, justice in the Senate before the elections,” he said, “and that’s what’s coming.”
