Hurricane Sally, now a tropical storm, hits Florida’s Gulf Coast with “catastrophic floods”



Sally’s northernmost eye barrier has landed in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the National Hurricane Center said. By 8pm, the storm had lost strength at 45 mph losing its hurricane status, and was located 70 miles west-northwest of Dothan, Ala. And it was moving northeast at 7 mph with tropical storm winds extending for 125 miles.
