I generally keep the comments short and sweet, but I just watched the trailer with my family and I’m excited. please don’t make me hype “Black Is King” is a love job. It is my passion project that I filmed, researched and edited day and night last year. I gave my best and now it’s yours. It was originally filmed as a piece of the “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and intended to celebrate the breadth and beauty of black ancestors. I never imagined that a year later, all the hard work done in this production would have had a bigger purpose. The events of 2020 made the vision and message of the film even more relevant, while people from all over the world embark on a historical journey. We are all looking for security and light. Many of us want to change. I believe that when blacks tell our stories, we can move the axis of the world and tell our REAL story of generational wealth and soul wealth that are not told in our history books. With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of black history and African tradition, with a modern touch and a universal message, and what it really means to find your personal identity and build a heritage. I spent a lot of time exploring and absorbing the lessons of past generations and the rich history of different African customs. While working on this film, there were times when I felt overwhelmed, like many others on my creative team, but it was important to create a film that instills pride and knowledge. I just hope that by observing, you will be inspired to continue building a legacy that impacts the world immeasurably. I pray that everyone will see the beauty and resilience of our people. This is the story of how people left MORE BROKEN have EXTRAORDINARY gifts. Thanks to Blitz, Emmanuel, Ibra, Jenn, Pierre, Dikayl, Kwasi and all the brilliant creatives. Thanks to everyone at Disney for giving this black woman the opportunity to tell this story. This experience was an affirmation of a greater purpose. My only goal is to see him with your family and make you proud. I love you, B

Fans saw some members of Beyoncé’s family, including Blue Ivy

Of course, there were celebrity appearances by artists featured on the album. However, Beyoncé would surely have included some members of his family in this body of work. This includes Tina Knowles, Jay-Z and her daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter.

For the song “Mood 4 Eva”, which featured Jay-Z as a rapper, Beyoncé’s husband performed alongside her. In this song there were still glimpses of Blue Ivy, dressed in his best “indifferent”. Blue Ivy also showed his strength for “My Power” by wearing a black hat and sunglasses, and his curly hair in the “Spirit” music video.

The song that featured Blue Ivy as a singer, “Brown Skin Girl”, also featured several members of the Beyoncé family. (This is true of the themes of The Lion King and the album itself.) A scene for Black is king including Beyoncé, his mother and two daughters, standing together.
