More cars from the NASCAR Cup series will drop to the rear before the start of the Pocono 350 on Sunday (16:00 ET on FS1, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
Since Sunday’s race is the second in a weekend double division, teams should use the same machine as the first race. Five teams, however, have been approved to go on a spare car and will therefore have to fall back in front of the green flag: Quinn Houff’s No. 00 StarCom Racing Chevrolet (expected to start 40th), the number 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Tyler Reddick (expected to start on the 30th), issue no. 20 Erik Jones’ Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota (expected to start 38th), no. 22 Team Penske Ford by Joey Logano (should start at 36 °) and n. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet by Alex Bowman (expected to start 27th).
In addition, four other drivers will lose their starting point for several reasons. Chase Elliott’s number 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and B.J. number 78. Chevrolet’s McLeod Motorsports Chevrolet have been changed. Elliott and McLeod were scored on the 25th and 39th respectively. So William Byron’s 24th Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and Ryan Preece’s 37th JTG Daugherty Racing Chevrolet 37 changed their engines. Byron would have started in seventh place, while Preece initially had pole position.
Sunday’s training was based on Saturday’s final results, which included a reversal of the top 20 finishers.
