Nelly’s first impression of the can itself?
“I thought it was drugs, man,” he said. “I mean, the image was great. This is the main thing you worry about. It’s like, okay, how’s the picture going to turn out? Because it’s not (a) color or it’s not a traditional promotional photo. But they did a great job. “
The partnership with Budweiser continues a high profile year for Nelly. “Country Grammar,” which put St. Louis hip hop on the national map with hits like the title track and “Ride Wit Me,” turned 20 earlier this year.
“The fact that it’s been 20 years and the fact that it doesn’t look like that long ago, I mean, affects you a little differently,” he said. “But you are thankful that it has impacted the lives of so many people. You are grateful for all the joy and opportunities it has brought people outside of the people you know. “
Nelly is also currently starring in the new season of “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC.
“It’s something I knew would push me because, I mean, I have two left feet,” he said.
