2020 has been a very, very difficult year for Nintendo. And the leaks continued with a new leak that made the rounds today revealing not one, but two unreleased Pokemon games that Game Freak had originally planned to release later Sun and moon, or, in other words, before Sword and shield. Unfortunately, the leaks themselves aren’t very revealing, but they reveal that the original plan was to create two more games set in the Kalos region afterwards. Ultra Sun is Ultra Moon.
The loss comes from a complete a Pokemon Sun and Moon repository that emerges online. The files inside are obviously dated, but the source code confirms that Game Freak was not done with the Kalos region as there are two unused reserved seats.
Below, you can check out the evidence for yourself, courtesy of Pokemon Center:

Of course, like any leak, this too should be taken with a grain of salt. While datamining leaks are typically quite reliable, they can also be misleading. Also, who knows if these mystery games ever started development.
Unfortunately, while the escape reveals that Game Freak was making something with the Kalos region, it doesn’t reveal what it was making or whether something similar was close to materializing into an actual product.
At the time of publication, neither Nintendo nor Game Freak have commented on this latest leak or the speculations surrounding it, and both are unlikely to have a fairly strict “no comment” policy when it comes to leaks. However, if either party provides a comment, we will be sure to update the story with everything shared.
