New PS5 features discovered in the PS Store source code

PS5 PlayStation 5 1

Sony isn’t telling us much about the PlayStation 5 at the moment, so let the intrepid code junkies extract the information from the platform owner. The new code discovered on the web version of the PlayStation Store anticipates some of the enticing new features we can expect to find on the upcoming next generation console.

First, it looks like wishlists will finally be integrated into the console, as there is a line of code that states, “Your wishlist is not available on this website. You can find it on a PS5.” Also, it looks like you will be able to create parties with up to 1

00 people and share music playlists with friends. There is also a reference to something called “Takedown”, but we’re still not sure what that entails.

Elsewhere, it appears that backward compatible titles that support PS5’s boost mode feature will be marked as such, while there will be a warning for 1% of PS4 games that are not playable on the next-gen console. Interestingly, there is also a reference to a page on the official PlayStation website that details backward compatibility, but it is currently offline.
