Nick Saban is reporting a familiar name to his technical staff.
According to a report by ESPN Dianna Russini Saban is hiring Steve Sarkisian, although the report did not specify for what position. Sarkisian was offered the position of offensive coordinator at Arizona Cardinals, but decided to give up an interview with Tuscaloosa.
Sarkisian was Alabama offensive coordinator in the Football Football Playoff National Championship 2017 championship after Lane Kiffin left to train in Florida Atlantic. Before the game against Clemson in Tampa, Sarkisian was an offensive analyst on Saban's staff for the other games of 201
"We appreciate all that Lane (Kiffin) has been doing for our football program for the past three years," Saban said after the coaching move. "We sat down to watch the Washington game and talked about the time demands of managing both jobs, and we recognized that it's better for our players, and for Lane, that we allow him to turn his full attention to his new FAU head coaching role
"This was not an easy decision and we appreciate the way Lane has managed this in terms of doing what is best for our team. At the end of the day, we both wanted to put our players in the best position to succeed. Obviously, we are in a unique situation here where we have our next offensive coordinator already on staff. We have full confidence that Sark will intervene immediately and make this transition smooth. "
In the last two seasons, Sarkisian was the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator.
Alabama needs an offensive coordinator, quarterback coach, offensive line coach and coach of great receivers after the departures of Mike Locksley, Dan Enos, Brent Key and Josh Gattis.
