The United States carried out an "extraordinary" flight on Ukraine on Thursday after Russiaoff the Crimea. Citing the Open Skies Treaty, the Pentagon said the United States and its allies conducted the flight "to reaffirm the United States' commitment to Ukraine and other partner nations".
"The unprovoked attack of Russia on Ukrainian military ships in the Black Sea near the Kerch Strait is a dangerous escalation in an increasingly provocative and threatening activity model," the Pentagon said in a statement
] "The United States seeks a better relationship with Russia, but this can not happen while its illegal and destabilizing actions continue in Ukraine and elsewhere.
Russia has accused Ukraine of provoking the incident, which has sharpened the tensions that have grown between the two countries since Moscow annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 201
