Packers Score vs. Saints: live updates, game stats, highlights as Aaron Rodgers battles Drew Brees on SNF

With both the Packers and Saints working without their top wide catcher on Sunday night, the two teams leaned on their racing backs and a hefty dose of short, fast pitches. The one big play of the first half came on an absolutely gorgeous play-action pass from Aaron Rodgers to Allen Lazard, who set a touchdown pass for Lazard later in the drive. Rodgers finished the first half 9 of 16 for 104 yards and the score to Lazard, who as the big-gainer came up with a play-action bootleg concept.

For the Saints, Alvin Kamara did almost all of the damage, carrying the rock four times for 56 yards and carrying in seven passes for another 61

yards and a touchdown. Drew Brees seemed reluctant to throw the ball down, preferring instead to control it towards targets he is most comfortable with. However, those shorter passes allowed the Saints to move the ball at a decent pace, and the latter of the half actually helped them take the lead despite a tough start. With just six seconds left, Brees found Emmanuel Sanders in the center for Sanders’ first score from Saint, putting New Orleans on the 17-13 lead at half time.
