The Philadelphia 76ers’ ownership – including Josh Harris and David Blitzer – will meet with Doc Rivers in Philadelphia on Wednesday night for the job as the franchise’s head coach, sources tell ESPN.
Rivers spoke last Wednesday with CEO Elton Brand. Other prominent candidates, including Mike D’Antoni and Ty Lue, also met with Brand and owners.
Rivers is the final candidate in the process. A decision is expected this week.
Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers parted ways Monday after his seventh season as head coach ended with their surprising expulsion from the NBA playoffs by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semi-finals. Sources said Rivers still had a two-year contract.
