Play Dead Or Alive 6’s Free Version But Don’t Buy The Game A La Carte

Today sees the release of Dead or Alive 6: Core Fighters the free-to-play version of the last Ninja Team fighter. It is the complete game minus the story mode, with only four of the 26 currently playable characters. The idea is that players download the free version, then buy additional fighters and story mode a la carte. This is a stupid idea.

Offering a free version of Dead or Alive 6 like Tecmo Koei did with Dead or Alive 5 is a great idea. It offers players who might otherwise skip a game of Dead or Alive based on the reputation of the series, a chance to see how toned the sexy stuff is in the last episode. The players of Core Fighters have access to four characters: Kasumi, Hitomi, Bass and the new character Diego. They can play all training modes, local versus, excellent Quest mode and even the ranked online multiplayer. The biggest limitation of Core Fighters is only the possibility to access the opening chapter of the story mode.

The "stupid idea" is buying any portion of the game piecemeal after trying the free version. Based on the prices requested by Tecmo Koei, buying the full game will almost always be a better deal, especially since it starts being discounted from the current price of $ 50-60.

Here's what Tecmo Koei is selling along with the free Dead or Alive 6 Core Fighters Starter Pack.

  • $ 39.99 Set of female fighters: includes Ayane, Tina, Leifang, Helena, Christie, Kokoro, La Mariposa, Mila, Marie Rose, Honoka and NiCO. This is $ 3.64 per character.
  • Men's combat set for $ 33.99: adds Hayabusa, Hayate, Jann Lee, Zack, Bayman, Brad Wong, Eliot, Rig and Raidou. Average $ 3.78 per character.
  • $ 49.99 20 Character Sets: Add all fighters but the Nyotengu and Phase 4 bonus characters. $ 2.50 per character.
  • Single $ 3.99 characters: although I don't expect anyone to be stupid enough to buy all 20 characters (21 with Nyotengu), if they did it would cost about $ 80, and that doesn't count. .. [19659006] $ 19.99 Story Mode: Entertainment, a fun way to unlock entries in the game's library, separate from character packs.

It is now easy to see the purchase of sets of both male and female stupid fighters, as the cost per character drastically decreases Option $ 50. At that point, you can even buy the full game. The story mode is very good. Hell, Amazon has the PlayStation 4 version of the game for sale for $ 52 as I write

Of course, there will be players out there who just want to go online and fight battles as a single character. If you only play Ayane and don't mind missing out on the characters outside of you and the free four, then $ 3.99 is not a bad price to pay. Just be sure, because buying a character and then deciding to fill out the rest of the roster means that the price paid for the individual character is lost. If you buy Ayana for $ 3.99 and then decide to get the full game, those four dollars are gone.

My advice is this. If you are interested in Dead or Alive 6 but you are not sure which is for you, take the package Core Fighters free for PC, PS4 or Xbox One. Give it a taste and, if you like it, take the full game. Think of it as a demo with advantages and you'll be fine.
