Let there be light! Whether it’s light bulbs, light switches or accessories, smart lights are among the most popular smart home gadgets on the market. This may have something to do with the fact that we use our lights more than anything else in our homes. Since you use them literally all the time, why not make things better during Amazonsale?
If the thought tempted you, Prime Day pricing could seal the deal ̵
Eero is Amazon’s brand on the networking front and has a new mesh router on sale this fall with full support for Wi-Fi 6, the latest and most advanced version of Wi-Fi. That system, the Eero 6, won’t ship until November 2, but if you’re willing to pre-order a 3-piece setup now on Prime Day, Amazon at its regular retail price of $ 279, Amazon will launch an Echo Dot smart speaker in giveaway and two free Philips Hue bulbs to sweeten the deal.
This is a nice setup, because the new Eero router has a built-in Zigbee radio that can pair those bulbs directly to your home Wi-Fi network without the need for a Philips Hue bridge. This means you’ll also be able to turn them on and off using Alexa’s voice commands, and that’s where the Echo Dot comes in.
Two caveats. though. First, you don’t get the new spherical Echo Dot, but it’s the previous disc-shaped version of 2018. Second, it’s Hue White Ambiance bulbs, not Hue color bulbs. This means you can change their color temperature between yellowish, candle-like tones and warmer, bluish-white tones, but you can’t have them emit red, green, blue, or anything else on the RGB spectrum. Still, a great deal here.

Speaking of Hue, if you hit Best Buy today for some counter-programming, you’ll find a bundle with Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus and a 1-meter extension strip for $ 60. That’s a total of 3 meters of light. which smart color change for $ 45 less than the normal package cost.
Just know that this is an older version of Hue Lightstrip, so it doesn’t include Bluetooth support and can’t emit more than one color at a time. However, if you have a few cabinets on the back of a TV that could benefit from a nice pop of accent color, it’s probably worth jumping over.
GE Lighting creates a nice range of smart bulbs and smart lighting accessories, and several packs are on sale today for Prime members during Prime Day 2020.
One of the best networks gives you two color-changing light bulbs, a color-changing light strip, a wireless remote that can turn them off, adjust them up and down, or change their color, and even a smart plug. Total cost? About $ 86. It would be a good deal if it was just the light strip and plug.
C by GE lights use Bluetooth to send and receive their signals and can pair directly with the Google Assistant for ultra-snappy voice controls. They also work with Alexa, but a bridge device is required to connect them to Amazon. Fortunately, this is where the Wi-Fi smart plug comes in. As long as you have it plugged in and connected to your home network, it will act as a bridge device for your C by GE lights and allow you to connect with Alexa for simple voice controls.
Either way, this is a nice package and a perfect way to add some pizzazz to your living room, playroom, or nursery. And if you don’t want the light strip or the remote, you can also get two bulbs and the smart plug for $ 38.
Do you already have C by GE lights and just want to add a smart plug to your setup on the cheap? Amazon Prime members can add one to their cart for just $ 10 today.
Again, in addition to letting you automate lamps, coffee makers, or whatever else you plug in, GE Lighting’s Wi-Fi smart plug will act as a bridge for your Bluetooth C by GE lights, allowing them to connect with Alexa. And yes, it works with the Google Assistant too.
Wiz is a whimsical little lighting startup that makes some surprisingly decent smart bulbs – decent enough that Philips’ parent company Hue Signify bought the brand last year and started selling the bulbs as “Philips Wiz Connected” LEDs. These versions predate the rebranding, but are just as solid and just as capable of connecting with Alexa or the Google Assistant without the need for any additional hub hardware. And, if you buy them today at Best Buy, you’ll save $ 8 on a 2-pack, bringing the cost per bulb to just $ 10.
This smart dimmer switch from Leviton doubles as a living space for Alexa thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker. Use it to replace an old light switch, and you’ll be able to control that light from your phone or with a voice command, including voice commands picked up by the switch itself.
Whether or not it’s a worthy upgrade is up to you, but it makes sense for Alexa’s die-hards. At a Prime Day price of $ 80, you save $ 20 off the regular retail price.

Cree is a mainstay of the lighting corridor (at Home Depot at least), and its affordable smart bulbs have long been a quick and easy way to fill your home with bright, dimmable auto light. Now, for Prime Day, this deal is even better, as Cree has soft white smart bulbs with a 75% drop – just $ 3 per bulb.
Just remember that Cree’s smart bulbs use Zigbee radios to send their signals, so you’ll need a Zigbee hub to automate them. Amazon Echo Plus, second-generation Amazon Echo Show, Wink Hub, and SmartThings Hub will all work, among other options.
Meanwhile, regular unconnected Cree LED bulbs are also on sale for Prime Day, with discounts of up to 40%.
