From what we know so far, it seems that the PS5 will revolutionize the way games are developed and played and, according to Epic Games, we would be right to think so.
In an interview with our friends in the official PlayStation magazine (via GamesRadar), Epic Games’ deputy technical director, Nick Penwarden, called the PS5 PlayStation a “system design masterpiece”, having used the PS5 development kit to create his incredible Unreal 5 technology demo.
“The PlayStation 5 is a masterpiece in system design,” Penwarden told OPM. “Not only is it making a huge leap forward in computing and graphics performance, it is also revolutionary in terms of data storage and compression technology, unlocking new types of games and experiences for gamers.”
It does what it says on the box
It appears that the PS5 lives up to the hype, with Sony’s bullish claim that the next generation console will “revolutionize the gaming experience for users” apparently under construction.
It’s not extremely surprising, as we already know that the PS5 will be an extremely powerful console, with its superfast SSD that promises fast loading and 3D Tempest audio that promises a more immersive gaming experience.
But the next-generation processing power will not only make games more immersive. According to Kim Libreri, CTO of Epic Games, it will allow “enabling completely new game concepts that can take advantage of completely dynamic environments and lighting, much improved physics, smarter artificial intelligence and richer multiplayer experiences”.
