Royole Releases the World’s First Bendable Smartphone

Royole's Flexpai is the world's first folding smartphone. Samsung may have launched such a folding smartphone prototype in November, when Royole announced the Flexpai for the first time, but the Flexpai is no longer a prototype. The company has presented a full version at CES this week that can pre-order it at this time.

However, the $ 1

3250 USD price of the Flexpai and its poor technical features have put a brake on those news.

Telephone specifications include:

  • CPU
    • Model: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855
    • Core: Octa-Core
    • Clock frequency: 2.84 GHz
  • view
    • Size: 7.8 inch diagonal
    • Type: Flexible AMOLED
    • Resolution: 1920 x 1440 (expanded mode)
    • Ratio: 4: 3 ( expanded mode)
    • Pixel Density: 308 PPI
  • Memory
    • RAM: 6 GB / 8 GB (Actual Formatted Capacity Lower)
    • ROM: 128 GB / 256 GB (Actual Formatted Capacity Lower)
    • Supported memory card: MicroSD
    • Expandable storage: Up to 256 GB
Here you can find the full technical specifications of Royale Flexpai, but they are not anything special. Add the report of Gizmodo on the permanent folding of the phone screen and the difficulty of actually positioning the phone in its various configurations, and it looks like a nice trick. However, Royole has managed to beat all the others on the market, and the Flexpai represents a glimpse of what folding screen technology can do for us in the future.

It may not be worth buying right now. Royole hopes the phone will be useful for games and entertainment with its overlarge screen. And while large screens help in everything from games to office productivity, we're not sure how much the Flexpai will hold up on the markets.
