Safari in macOS Big Sur will stream Netflix in 4K HDR

MacOS Big Sur could be a useful update if you love marathon TV shows. Such as 9to5Mac reports, users have discovered Safari in Big Sur will play Netflix videos in 4K with HDR, whether you are using Dolby Vision or HDR10. You won’t have to switch to another browser just to see more than just a 1080p image. The update comes thanks to the long-awaited support for HEVC in Apple’s web browser.

You will have to be picky about choosing your Mac if you want the full effect, both with the Big Sur beta and with the final version of this fall. HDR is currently only supported with MacBook Pro 201

8 or later models, Mac mini 2018 or later systems, iMac Pro or Mac Pro. You will need a monitor with HDR functionality also for Mac mini and Mac Pro.
