A huge burn scar runs through parts of Talent and Phoenix, which are home to around 11,000 people combined. The injured ground, seen in Maxar Technologies images, borders Interstate 5.
About 600 residences and 100 other structures were destroyed, he notes.
Phoenix and Talent are “basically destroyed,”
Almost everything north of the I-5 flyover in Phoenix appears to have been burned down.
The wildfire seems to have crept between the interstate and state highway 99, with the mobile home parks taking the brunt of hell.
Zooming in just north of Phoenix Road, everything but a few businesses appear to be charred.
The mobile home parks on both sides of Highway 99 appear to have suffered significant damage from the fire.
In Talent, just four miles south, another mobile home park along Highway 99 appears to be damaged.
First responders, city workers and others on Talent worked until Tuesday and overnight to evacuate people and protect property.
The area is still dangerous due to numerous hot spots and downed power lines, city officials said.
The fire was not at all contained by noon Thursday and had burned over 5,700 acres, the state dashboard showed.
