Seven companies take over an arms manufacturer based in Rockingham County



Arms manufacturer Remington Arms, based in Rockingham County, was auctioned off in bankruptcy court, according to a Bloomberg report. On Tuesday, the company laid off more than 100 people due to the closure of its Madison plant and Remington filed for bankruptcy in July. This is according to a Bloomberg report. On Tuesday, the company laid off more than 100 people as its Madison plant closes.

Remington filed for bankruptcy in July. A court filing in Alabama claims that seven bidders have purchased part of the company’s business.

Remington is working to pay off nearly a billion dollars in debt.

The families of the Sandy Hook massacre sued the gun manufacturer over how it marketed the rifle used to kill 20 children and six adults in 2012.
