During the first season of last week Saturday Night Live, host Chris Rock reacted to the news that Donald Trump had tested positive for coronavirus by saying, “My heart goes out to COVID.”
A week later, the president has apparently recovered from the virus and has already returned to delivering speeches to packed crowds. “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che had trouble concealing his disappointment with this week’s episode.
“President Trump claimed to have survived the coronavirus,” Che reported, adding, sarcastically, “Yay!”
“I won’t say I̵
“Actually, maybe we should be more optimistic about that,” Che said. “I mean, there are two ways we can see it. Either Trump is telling the truth and we finally have a cure for COVID. Or Trump is lying and he will die again. I’m not going to say it’s a win for everyone, but definitely not. it’s a defeat. “
Picking up where his co-host left off, Colin Jost added, “I also have to say it’s amazing to see a guy having a near-death experience and not learning anything from it. It’s like watching someone smoke through the hole in the neck. “
Showing footage of Trump throwing MAGA hats to his supporters at a rally when he was probably already positive for the virus, Jost said, “She’s like an evil Oprah. ‘You’re getting COVID! You’re getting COVID! You’re getting COVID! under your seats, it’s a fan! ‘”
“This is a dark sight,” Che admitted, before moving on to the treatment the president believes has “cured” him.
“President Trump said that a therapeutic drug from Regeneron, which is derived from stem cells, is the cure for COVID,” he said, “which seemed unlikely, unfounded, irresponsible, and I’m looking forward to buying 1,000 shares of. Regeneron baby juice broth. “
“It’s kind of weird that these old Republicans are so opposed to abortion when it comes to everyone else,” Che concluded, “but then they do a full 180 as soon as stem cells can save their lives or when I get pregnant. their daughter. “
