SpaceX’s next prototype spaceship will test a 60,000-foot return flight

SpaceX is almost done with short-jump Starship test flights. Elon Musk has shared (through TechCrunch) that the company’s SN8 prototype spacecraft is expected to be completed in “about a week” and will conduct Starship’s first high-flying flight. After static fire tests and verifications, SpaceX will attempt a 60,000-foot return trip with the rocket.

The car will also have fins and a nose pad, Musk said. Recent “tin can”

; prototypes such as the SN5 and SN6 had simulated weight on top instead of a real nose and had no flaps to guide flight.
