Retailers are gearing up for the release of new Apple products this fall, leaving placeholder spaces available in their weekly advertisements. This week, Target erroneously posted its weekly ad containing placeholder references to the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6. The announcement also leaves room for a “new” version of the iPhone, although it isn’t actually planned this week.
The Target ad simply references a “new iPhone” along with instructions that a Target marketing employee will complete the layout for the ad after Apple’s announcement. The images and text still reference Apple’s line of iPhone 11 smartphones, and there’s room for iPhone 12 cases as well.
Of course, what’s important to remember here is that we do not expect the iPhone 1
The Target announcement also leaves room for the upcoming announcement of Apple Watch Series 6. The announcement simply refers to Apple Watch Series 6 GPS and Apple Watch Series 6 GPS + Cellular “starting at X99.99”. Again, Target doesn’t have advanced knowledge of Apple’s announcements, so why the pricing information remains unknown and the images are still from the Apple Watch Series 5.
