Nintendo fans may have gotten the best possible clue as to the reveal date for the next one Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter DLC. An announcement now appearing in Japan for the Fighter’s Pass Vol. 2 DLC includes five free seats, in addition to the first DLC fighter, Min-Min. The announcement, however, will only be available until October 7, leading many to believe the next fighter will be revealed on or around that date. It goes without saying that once the next fighter has been revealed, that announcement will no longer be relevant. The new announcement can be found in the Tweet below.

It seems entirely possible that the next DLC fighter will be revealed next month. While Nintendo had previously stated that these DLC fighters will be more spaced out than those in the first Fighter’s Pass, there are still five fighters left. The coronavirus pandemic has likely had some development impact, but it seems likely Nintendo would have wanted more than one fighter released this year. A new fighter ahead of the holiday season would also allow the company to use it in promotional material alongside other major Switch releases.
If the timing proves correct, this could also lead to a clue as to the fighter’s identity. A release date for the second batch of Pokemon Sword and Shield The DLC will also be released before the end of the year. The current generation of Pokemon does not yet have a representative in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so it’s entirely possible that a Pokemon from The crown tundra DLC may appear in the game. It is worth noting that there have been generations of Pokemon that have not received representations in the game, but most have. A fighter Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would give Nintendo the ability to promote DLC for both games.
Of course, it’s entirely possible he could be a different fighter too! Fans have been clamoring for fighters like Geno, Waluigi, Sora, and others. Whether fans will see these characters appear remains to be seen. Thankfully, it looks like fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out!
