The return of Peanuts on television it’s a welcome respite in this wild world. And it’s especially good if you like Snoopy.
In a new teaser, Apple previews the upcoming adaptation for Apple TV of the famous Charles Schultz comic Peanuts, The Snoopy show. Played by Charlie Brown’s silent but handcrafted little dog, this feels like a throwback to the shape Peanuts of the crew, who have been off television for some time. If nothing else, this trailer sets the right mood.
It’s not entirely clear if a Snoopy-centric show is exactly the right way to bring Peanuts back to TV: after all, the point of the strip generally has more to do with the melancholy comedy of life told through misadventures in front of a little, arguably bald child– but it’s easy to see why she’s attractive. Snoopy is fun, Woodstock is fun, and maybe we can have some of that melancholy around the edges.
The Snoopy show arrives on Apple TV this February.
