Mandy Patinkin revives ‘The Princess Bride’ line
‘The Princess Bride’ celebrates its 30th anniversary. Mandy Patinkin talks about her role in the 1987 cult classic and also revives her Inigo Montoya line.
The Wisconsin Democrats needed a fundraising boost. What about the message from the original cast of “The Princess Bride” and their guests?
“As you want.”
More than 110,000 people donated at least $ 1 to tune in to “A Virtual Princess Bride Reunion” on Sunday night, making the online event an inconceivable fundraising win for the Democrats here.
“Meeting the Princess Bride tonight, once in a lifetime, changes the odds of who wins Wisconsin,” said Ben Wikler, chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “This is the largest base fundraiser we have ever had by a mile.”
Wikler added that “joining the registration for tonight and signing up by mail to volunteer tonight can make the difference between the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration and another four years of Trump’s nightmare.”
Most of the original cast – at least those who, as director Rob Reiner put it, “aren’t dead” – gathered for a script reading of the 1987 classic.
Those who joined the reading included Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Carol Kane, Chris Sarandon, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, Christopher Guest, as well as Reiner as his grandfather reading a story to his ailing grandson.
Even with the delayed start and some technical difficulties, the cast did an extraordinary job of recreating the magic of the beloved film.
