During the fight, Red Skull attempts to exert the power of the Tesseract itself, causing a split in space to teleport it to the planet Vormir. At one point, Mar-Vell transfers the artifact to his research base hidden in Earth's orbit. ( Captain Marvel )

1989, Nevada: A Kree ship piloted by Commander Yon-Rogg of Starforce shoots down a test fighter powered by the Tesseract's energy, piloted by Lawson and USAF Captain Carol Danvers. In the wake of the crash, Yon-Rogg kills Lawson, and Danvers, after destroying the ship's test engine in an attempt to neutralize Yon-Rogg, accidentally absorbs the cosmic energies of the Tesseract, making it unconscious (and also giving her vast photonic superpowers) . Yon-Rogg kidnaps Danvers hoping to extract the energy from her, bringing her back to the birthplace of Kree, Hala, where her memories are altered, so she would have believed that the Skrulls were behind her accident. It is difficult to say yet, given how little we know of Endgame if the Space Stone has a future after it has apparently become inert after the snap.
