President Donald Trump has again whipped CNN correspondent Jim Acosta during a round table at the White House on Friday, mockingly thanking the journalist for his "sales pitch" for the presidential border wall.
Trump was referring to Acosta's report during Trump's visit nothing was happening along an empty and silent stretch of the border between Mexico and Texas, which intended to highlight the "invasion" there. Trump and some other Republicans mocked the report, pointing out that Acosta was walking along a boundary barrier during her relationship.
"Nice work, I appreciate your sales tone," Trump told Acosta on Friday
. When Acosta replied: "I did not see an invasion at the border," Trump replied, "Oh, did not you do it? That's because we had a wall." While there are about 650 miles of barriers along the southern border, the construction of the Trump border wall has not begun.
Acosta tweeted on Trump's new request for an invasion: "Checking facts: False".
Trump said during his comments that the nation is "under siege" by immigrants attempting to cross the border. "We have a country invaded by criminals and drugs," he said.
The president also insisted that his threat to declare a national emergency – and build a boundary wall without the support of Congress or the majority of Americans – would be the "easy way out" ". But "Congress should do this" – apparently the House and the Senate should accept its demands. "It's too simple," he said.
"If they can not do that, I will declare a national emergency, I have the absolute right to do it," added Trump.
But Trump appeared further from his threat to declare a national emergency in other comments.
"What we are not trying to do now is national emergency," Trump said. "I'm not going to do it so fast."
The president again repeated, without evidence, that many federal workers in isolation support his government to close and go without salary until he gets $ 5.7 billion for his border wall.
