Two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officers shot, seriously injured in Compton



Two Los Angeles County deputies were fighting for their lives after they were killed Saturday night in Compton, what authorities described as an “ambush.”

The sheriff’s department reported that the shooting took place around 7 pm. near the blue line station at 275 Willowbrook Ave.

“A male MP and a female MP were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. Both have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. Both are currently undergoing surgery, “the department said in a statement.

Law enforcement sources told the Times that at least one of the deputies was shot in the face and another in the head when a gunman approached their car.

They also said investigators were also looking at surveillance footage capturing parts of the attack.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva is at the hospital where deputies are treated.

No further details were immediately available, and it is unclear whether investigators identified a suspect.
